Explore WHISKY has announced it is entering the online whisky club market with the launch of www.explorewhiskyclub.com.au.
The Explore Whisky Club will highlight rare and special releases either exclusively for membersor as a pre-release before the rest of the country gets to enjoy these special drops.
The club is the brainchild of drink industry marketing manager Lara Gardner, and the founder and editor of Explore WHISKY magazine, Ashley Pini (pictured above).
“Whisky lovers are constantly seeking out rare and interesting whiskies that aren’t readily available in retail, yet finding where to source these from is always a challenge," Gardner said. "Ash and I saw an opportunity to evolve Explore Whisky magazine by continuing to give passionate whisky drinkers the interesting facts, yet also the opportunity each month to discover and taste these exceptional whiskies from the comfort of their home by simply joining the club.”
Pini added: “Since we published the first Explore WHISKY back in 2012 I’ve had the pleasure of travelling the world of whisky and meeting some of the most dedicated and talented distillers and blenders creating exceptional whiskies that, unfortunately for us, often do not get released on this side of the planet. Now I can choose from the best of them and give the first opportunity to try them to the members of the Explore Whisky Club.”
The first exclusive offer to the Australian market is the new release GlenDronach Batch 7 Cask Strength. Whisky connoisseurs will know GlenDronach whiskies for some of the most sort after (and hard to find) special releases including the ‘Cask Strength’ release. Famed for its sherry cask maturation, Batch #7 is a highland single malt Scotch whisky matured in the finest Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks and presented at cask strength, 57.9%.
“Following the recent launch of the GlenDronach Revival in Scotland, I learnt of the GlenDronach Batch 7," said Pini. "The whisky stood out as exceptional and was the front runner for our launch whisky, especially as we were able to get an Australian pre-release for our members.
"It is a robust, elegant, and full-bodied single malt that has been bottled without the addition of water or chill filtration, coming in at 57.9% abv and, as is the case for all GlenDronach whiskies, has absorbed its colour naturally from the Spanish oak sherry casks.”
Rachel Barrie, master blender at The GlenDronach noted: “The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 7 is rich in the rewards of slow, mellow and complex sherry cask maturation in the earthen-floored dunnage warehouses at GlenDronach; the rewards being a sublime aroma, rounded taste, full body and long-lasting finish. With a cask selection spanning Summer, Autumn and Winter distillation at GlenDronach, the resulting marriage delivers a malt with a strong heart, complex taste and smooth, mellow maturity, belying it’s 57.9% cask strength.”
